The field of Permanent Cosmetics is an exciting and growing industry. Electrologists, estheticians, nurses, tattoo artists, cosmetologists and physicians are among the diverse group who have added this specialty to their portfolio of services as well as many talented individuals who come from a completely unrelated career since there are no specific pre-requisites to get into this lucrative industry. As is often the case in a rapidly growing field, there are a wide range of options for training. These options need to be closely reviewed as this can be an expensive investment in your future. Success in this industry is directly related to the quality and amount of training you receive.
Since most states have no specific educational requirements, the easiest form of training would be to find someone who is willing to take a small fee to let you sit in while they work or maybe you can find a school online that offers a two-day course. However, keep in mind, that if you do not train in a legitimate training facility, you will not be able to get insured from liability and quite simply it could really be a struggle to try to learn something of such importance in only two days. From our experience, the most affordable way is to learn from a legitimate training facility that will train you privately with only one or two students per class so you are not throwing away good money to decide you really need more training in order to feel comfortable and insure your new business. Consider how long you would like someone to study before they perform cosmetic tattooing on your face!
Beginning courses should teach you to perform eyeliner, eyebrow and lip liner/full lip procedures. If you are considering classes that claim you can do scar camouflage and/or skin re-pigmentation and areola tattooing all in one session, you may want to reconsider. These are very advanced procedures and in our opinion should not be included in a beginner class.
Before signing up for classes inquire as to how many students are going to be in the class. All classes must include hands-on training with live models. If there is more than one student per trainer for hands-on work you will not get the individual attention you need to learn these procedures safely and effectively.
How long have the instructors been in the industry? How many procedures have they done? Don’t be afraid to ask for references from previous students.
Look for a curriculum that includes not only makeup artistry but proper sterilization, health considerations, equipment operation and maintenance, needles, autoclaves, pigment selection and color mixing, client forms, pre and post-procedure care, chart notes, consent forms, documenting with photography and it is also a bonus if they are suppliers of equipment and pigments so you can start out by using what you learned with. We make sure at Globally Preferred to give you everything you need to complete your education and get the products you need directly from us as seen here http://www.
Also find out what continuing support you will receive to answer the ongoing questions that are bound to arise. Can you come back to work with the trainer if you have a problem without additional charges? Is there someone you can call for help?
You will also find our instructors at Globally Preferred are qualified in advanced procedures such as skin camouflage, areola reconstruction, microneedling/dermal rolling and or skin needling so you can always further your career should you decide to do so in the future.
Please call to discuss class options and available dates. Our enrollment can be done via phone and email. Don’t forget to ask about our holiday discounts for paying your tuition in full or if that is not an option we are still offering our affordable in-house payment plan for another couple of weeks. (payment plan also ending December 31, 2015).
Cheers to an exciting new career beginning 2016 and as always….
Be Healthy, Be Happy, Be Prosperous!!
